My first sock is well on its way to being complete. Not without a lot of stumbling blocks and mistakes though. The cast-on went good, as did the ribbing and stockinette sock leg. The heel flap was pleasant, despite the fact that it is now on the inside of the heel instead of on the outside.
Turning the heel is where things began to go horribly wrong. I consulted Knitting Rules by Stephanie Pearl-Mcphee, and finally devised my own little heel-turning technique, and ended up with a turned-albeit mucked-up heel. Picking up the slipped stitches, no problem.
I am currently decreasing for the gusset--on the foot part of the sock.
I'm hoping the finished product looks as good as it feels on my feet.
