Welcome Fall Yarn Giveaway!!

To welcome fall, which is my favorite season, I'm having a yarn giveaway. This time, I'm giving away two different skeins of yarn, both equally beautiful. The first is a skein of Dream in Color Smooshy with Cashmere(one of my favorite yarn bases) in the special edition colorway Ponder Dusk, which is a tonal purple colorway. The second is a skein of Slackford Studio Nimbus Cloud laceweight yarn in the Emerald Frost colorway. This yarn is a light fingering 70% alpaca, 10% cashmere, 20% silk. To be entered to win, all you need to do is leave a comment with your favorite sock pattern-if you are a sock knitter-or other favorite knitting pattern. I will draw two winners on Friday, September 9th. Good luck!

  1. This is some lovely yarn! What a generous giveaway! I love fall as well- finally I will be able to wrap myself in all the shawls I knit during summer! I guess that gives it away, I am not a sock knitter. I love shawls of all shapes and looks. However, my favourite pattern is the Baktus Scarf (http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/baktus-scarf)! It's just knit in plain garter, but I love how you can play with colour and stripes, and different yarn weights and amounts. I love it!

  2. I haven't knit these yet, but I'm taken by the Spiraling Coriolis socks in Cat Bordhi's New Pathways for Knitters. I'm a new sock knitter though -- have only knitted two pairs so far, so...

  5. I am finishing a magic loop sock pair. This was a class piece and has been much fun!
Favorite sock pattern is just a generic basic cuff down sock. I need to try something a bit different, maybe.

  10. I'm not a sock knitter, but I love sock yarn! And with fall coming up, I think either of these yarns would make a lovely shawl or cowl.

  11. I adore fall, too. I just finished making the Arwen Keyhole Scarf (http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/arwen-keyhole-scarf) and want to make another one - it is pretty and very practical for those of us in cold climates!

  17. Greetings!

I am not a sock knitter, but love sock yarn. I mostly make shawls and my favorite shawl is Sarai. I knit shawls all year, but love snuggling in them during the Fall and Winter!

  19. I stumbled across a pattern called "bigfoot socks", which required 2 yarns used at once, but I only used one and they were perfect!

    I'm making duck-feet-shaped socks now :)

  22. I'd love to get my needles on some of the DIC Smooshy. I knit socks - but I wouldn't say I'm a serious sock knitter. I like to knit baby things, sweaters, hats, blankets, etc.

  24. I love fall! I don't know if I have a favorite sock pattern. I really like the look of my Absinthe socks, but I hated all the cables and purling, so I wouldn't do it again.

  25. thanks for the opportunity to enter the draw.
    for socks I like http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/patterned-and-plain-socks
which is the Sirdar country style. I have used this pattern with many sock yarns and it has always come up trumps.
For shawls I like Jamieson and Smiths Lamplight Shawl because it lends itself to mono or variegated yarn

  26. Until now, my favorite sock pattern is Jeck, by Regina Satta. It is on Ravelry, it is easy and fits well! You have a great blog and thanks for the giveaway!!

  27. I'm definitely a sock knitter, but I'm horrible at choosing favourites... maybe Scatterling by Hunter Hammersen?

  28. I always seem to modify sock patterns - changing the cuff edge, using a different stitch pattern for the heel, etc. But two patterns I liked VERY much (and only changed a little) are Waving Lace (Evelyn Clark) and Embossed Leaves (Mona Schmidt). I'll knit both again!

Thanks for the giveaway - the yarn looks luscious :)

  29. I haven't actually made socks yet, but I love to use fingering weight yarn. Right now I have a Japanese Fan and Feather shawl ready to bind off and am testing a pair of fingerless gloves. I don't really have a favorite pattern - there are too many out there to still try! Thanks for the opportunity -

  30. RavID: Super-Nova

Favorite sock pattern: That's a toughie because I've never met a sock pattern I didn't like at least a little bit, but I'll go with Skew by Lana Holden. It is so well-written and the socks are unique and comfy.

  31. My favorite sock pattern is: Classic Socks for the family - Fingering, Sport & Worsted Weights by Yankee Knitter Designs Pattern #29. It is an awesome pattern especially for self-striping yarn.

  32. I absolutely LOVE fall. There's no better season and I just got all excited that it's fall again. I am so happy.
I have not attempted socks yet, but I got myself the book "Enchanted Sole" and am itching to try the Galadriel socks (or Selkie or Naiad) soon. They are on my list.
Otherwise I've just fallen in love with little shawls with a leave border and the Semele (http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/semele-2) has just caught my heart.
