I'm officially done with summer and am anxiously awaiting the arrival of fall. Normally I love summertime, but this heat has just been ridiculous. The last couple of weeks have followed this pattern almost precisely: Wake up, drop son off at summer camp, work till 5:00 p.m, pick up son from summer camp, head over to the pool and jump right in. Other days have been spent in the shade at the sprayground with my son. It is finally supposed to cool off this weekend..hope it stays that way for a while.
I've been in a sock yarn-winding mode, which, coupled with the sock knitting, has been helping me relax and stay cool. OTN as of right now: Crocus Vernus socks for the Knitter's Curiosity Cabinet(written by Hunter Hammersen) KAL, a pair of mindless socks in a self-striping color, and a pair of socks for my son's birthday(using Hazel Knits Artisan Sock in the Nemo colorway). The Hazel Knits yarn is divine---so squishy!
I was working on Wedge for the knit.sock.love KAL, but frogged because the pattern wasn't working out well for me. Wedge seems like a good pattern with which to use hand dyed yarns, since they show up better in garter stitch. Another project that made it to the frog pond, which is depressing since I loved the yarn, is the Asymmetrical Cables pattern from Cookie A. I got through the entire first main chart, and then realized that I hadn't shifted the pattern, making the front side of the sock patterned, and the back plain stockinette for the back. It should have really been panels on the side, not together in the front. Bummer, since I loved the pattern. I will try to redo it soon.
Will post pics tomorrow!
