Stressing out

The move is in 3 days. My son is freaking out because everything in our apartment is boxed up and ready to go for the movers. I actually thought he wouldn't notice that we were moving because our new apartment has the same layout as the one we currently are in.

The first sock is done! It's too bad that the yarn I am using (Fortissima Socka disco colori) is discontinued locally, because I love it! At least I had the foresight to buy multiple skeins of it. The sock is too big for me, but it also bloomed when I washed it. Lesson learned. I switched to size 0 dpns for the second sock, but eventually switched my size 1's back in.

Halfway there

We are so close to the big day (moving day). We still have a lot left to pack however. Work has been ok, despite a major software snafu yesterday which resulted in much worrying. Don't worry--my husband fixed it! Yay!
My son (who is 19 months old) ate scrambled eggs willingly yesterday! Huge milestone, as he is very picky.
Ordered some Lorna's Laces and a miniature sock blocker keychain from The Loopy Ewe last week. Should be arriving today and will post pics when I can.
Have a good day!

Valentine's Day

I had a crazy Valentine's Day. My boss picked me for a special project at work, and I was in the middle of a conversation with him and doing a bunch of work when the power went out in our apartment complex. A transformer behind our building decided to die. We had to grab the dog, baby, and some essentials and spend the evening and most of the night with my mother in law who lives in the middle of nowhere. It was nice, but I was so glad to be able to get home at 230 am. I went to sleep at 5 and woke up at 7 am with my son. Good news! I finally got my package from the Valentine's Swap on Ravelry. I took a picture of it. Contents--a skein of Louet Gems sportweight yarn, Annie Modesitt book"Romantic Handknits", some candy, 4 lovely tealights, a card, a journal, 2 tins, and some cute sticky notes. Thank you Kjack74!

My sock is still coming along. We moved our moving date to February 26th.

Winter has returned.

It's -4 degrees out, when the wind blows. Right now. And It was 67 degrees here last week. I really want winter to be over soon. The snow and sleet was fun for the first 5 seconds, then I was over it.

My socks in Socka Disco are still coming along. I'm finished with the ribbing for sock number 1 and am starting on the leg. My feet are cold. I stepped into water with my handknit gift socks and I now have to throw them into the dryer.

I started watching Season 1 of the X-Files last night, while knitting away on my sock. I completely missed that show when it was on tv, and now I get to watch it for the first time. I really like it a lot.

Yarn prOn of the day:
Sock yarn from Mysmallwonders on Etsy.

Argh! Sick time....

I think I am getting the flu. I was standing over the washer putting some clothes in, when I got that sinking feeling that I get right before I get the chills, etc that come with the annual flu virus I seem to catch every year. I work from home, so time off is not that big of a deal. Still, who wants to be typing at the computer when they can barely get out of bed.

The toddler socks from Spunky Eclectic have been frogged. I can't believe the author of the pattern would say she was going to put in two sets of instructions for the short row heel, one with wrapped stitches and one with slipped stitches. She only included the instructions for the wrapped stitches!

Since I have startitis, I cast on for my socks, using the Yarn Harlot's pattern for basic socks. I'm using my Fortissima Socka Disco Colori (I think thats what the ball band said) glitter sock yarn. I like how stiff the resulting fabric is. When I first bought this yarn, I had never knitted socks before. I had, however, contemplated the socks I was going to make in the future. I did not know that one huge ball of sock yarn makes a pair of socks, so thinking about my future pair, I bought 3 huge balls of sock yarn. I think there's like 520 yards per ball. Silly me....but at least I have enough of that yarn for 3 pairs of socks.

Went to see Fools Gold at the movies last night. It was a good movie, but it got bad reviews. I always end up liking the movies with bad reviews. What do critics know anyway?

In a million different directions....

Well, the move is 2 weeks and counting. We're getting all packed up, room by room, as you can see.

The toddler socks from Spunky Eclectic are going well. The pattern is easy to follow, and I need easy, being as the heel of this sock is formed differently than the pair I just finished for Nate (husband). I love knitting socks so much! Its so nice to have a little project in beautiful yarn that fits on my desk and I can work on in spare moments when I'm not doing actual work.

My least favorite season is winter. I love knitting and being cozy and warm, but I am a knitter who knits year-round. Wool in July is not a problem for me. Wintertime makes me feel sleepy and grumpy. I think most creatures feel that way, even dogs. Observe Exhibit A: Chance, our dog.

I finally finished my first pair of socks! I am so unbelievably proud of took a lot of time and patience but I think I am in love with socks and dpns. I looked forward to turning the

I got my Dream in Color Smooshy last week--posted here is a pic of it. Can't wait to start working with it--I think it is destined for a pair of Monkey socks, pattern by Cookie A.

I'm awaiting the arrival of my Valentine's Day yarn swap surprise. I wonder what it will be...I love almost all of the packages that people have photographed and put on the Ravelry group page. Hurry up mail!!

Next up--Spunky Eclectic Toddler socks for Charlie, in Cascade Sassy Stripes. Looking cute so next time.
