I'm an official Loopy Groupie!!!

I became an official Loopy Groupie today. Loopy Groupies are knitters who shop (very) frequently at the Loopy Ewe. As part of my welcome, I got a big tote bag, keychain, Loopy Kisses, a pattern for a semi-complicated sock, and a skein of Chewy Spaghetti sock yarn. Loopy stuff came with my order that I placed Sunday for 2 skeins of ShibuiKnits Sock in Anime, Cherry Tree Hill Supersock in Wild Cherry, and some Soak wash.
I love being a Loopy Groupie! Thank yous to Sheri and the Loopy Elves for all that you do.

Stash Enrichment eXpedition!

Went to an area yarn store today....had been there before, was a little sad to see that their book section was 1/2 the size of what it used to be, and the books in stock were ones I already own. I have a large yarn stash here in my apartment, and a lot of it is what can be classified as sock yarn. I get a little bored with the yarn I have sometimes, and I go buy more (sounds awful doesnt it.)

I was also bored by the sock yarn selection at the store I was at today...but more on that later.

Presenting my new yarn!

Not the best quality picture, but here's the roll call: From the top left, Regia Kaffe Fassett design line sock yarn, Noro Kureyon Sock, Regia Kaffe Fassett design line. Bottom left: Regia 4-ply, Online Supersocke Cotton, Wisdom Marathon New York, Noro Kureyon Sock, and Austermann Step.
The bottom-row Noro was somewhat damaged, but when I peeked inside the outer rings of color, and it blew me away and I had to have it.
Never worked with Noro, but I'm anxious about whether it will have problems as I have heard. The colorways are amazing.

Yarn-y Update

Just stopping by to show off my latest yarn-y acquisitions: some Araucania Ranco Multi, more Smooshy, Lorna's Laces, Paca Peds, and some Louet. I have just begun another pair of standard stockinette socks in Shepherd Sock Motherlode. It's a nice colorway, a little muted and not something I normally would have purchased, but I got it in a swap. It's the first time I have ever knit with Shepherd Sock, and when I cast on for the socks, I was a little nervous because the yarn looked so darn thin on the needles. It is working up into a nice fabric however.

Yarn shout-out of the week--I'm going to highlight a new yarn that I think is worth a try each week from now on. This week it's Conjoined Creations is the creator of Flat Feet, a revolutionary sock yarn knit from a flat instead of a ball/hank/skein/what-have-you. You knit the socks/gloves/shawl from the flat. The yarn is really soft and seems like it would wear reasonably well. No two socks knit from this yarn will be the same, as you can choose the pattern that will appear simply by alternating side (the flat has two sides). Definitely check out this yarn!

More later, and maybe a book review or two in the coming weeks!

What I have been up to

This will be a short post, mostly filled with pics. I finished my son's socks, in Encore Colorspun in Green Flecks. Also some Dream in Color Classy mixed in, which surprisingly did not felt in the washer/dryer! Made my Loopy sock from my third Loopy Ewe order, in Cherry Tree Hill. That yarn (supersock) is on my to-get list for sure.

Worked on son's sweater, also knitting a baby blanket/hats for preemie charity.

Knit 1. Magazine

I have been a subscriber of several knitting magazines over the last 3 years. Creative Knitting, Vogue Knitting, Interweave, Knit Simple, and Knit 1. I have constantly renewed my subscriptions too. Always been a loyal reader.
Which is why I was surprised to read that Knit 1. was coming out with only 3 issues this year, instead of 4. The magazine promised that those of us who had renewed subscriptions would still get our 4 subscriptions. The Spring issue was to be a double issue. Lo and behold, when I got my spring/summer 2008 issue, it was NOT a double issue.
I feel like I was screwed, and promptly cancelled my subscription. What's a girl to do? I guess I will keep my money and buy more knitting books with it.
