Christmas was awesome!!

Sorry for the delay in posting, but I am still basking in the after-Christmas glow. We had an awesome Christmas. The day before Christmas Eve, my niece was born. Christmas Eve was spent with my mom and sister up in Cleveland. We had a nice dinner, followed by exchanging gifts. We recieved a lot of gifts from Hungary, where my mother's family is from. For my birthday, which is on the 30th of December, I got a Coach bag from my sister and dad. I was so excited! Our son gave us the Christmas gift of a full night's sleep both nights we were away.
On Christmas Day, my sister, husband, son and I went over to my dad's house. We exchanged gifts (I got a bracelet from Tiffany's from my sister and dad, and some perfume and a gift card from my dad). We went over to my grandfather's house and had a large family dinner with my aunt, uncle, grandpa, and cousins. Once again, we slept all night long. Next day, we returned home.

It was a great Christmas, but it seemed to go by way too fast. I bought some knitting books with my gift card--Itty Bitty Hats, Itty Bitty Nursery, Toys to Knit, and Essential Knits for Kids by Debbie Bliss. I went book shopping with the intent to choose randomly to add to my knitting library and it worked out really well!

I'm back to working on my christmas tree skirt (for next christmas), my son's blanket, and my dad's socks, which did not get finished by Christmas. I turn 25 in 2 days time, on the 30th!!!!

I'm an aunt!!

I became an aunt today! My niece, Brianna Grace, was born this afternoon. She is a wonderful blessing for the entire family, and it is so great that she will be celebrating her first Christmas in a couple days as well. Congratulations to her mom and dad, my brother-and-sister-in-law. I can't wait to meet her!

Knitting update: Still working on all 3 of my OTN projects: socks for Dad, blanket for my son, and Christmas tree skirt. I've been super busy with work and even though I've knitted on these projects off and on all week, I haven't been able to complete them:-(

Going to visit my mom and dad for Christmas, should be a fun time.

Merry Christmas to all!!

Edited to add: I went to see my new niece a few hours ago. She is adorable and cute as a button, with a full head of hair.

A blogger's act of holiday kindness

If you have a minute (or longer), pop on over to my fellow blogger AnnyPurls. She has created a "Buddy Sweater" pattern for a special cause, MOST. They have an Adopt-a-Family program aimed at helping families and children in need. Anny is offering the pattern as a free download for those who donate to this special charity. MOST is special to my heart, namely because helping children is one of the core missions of this charity. For more information, and a handy donation link, go here to the Jujube and Lolo site.

Happy holidays!!

There has been a whole lot of cuteness at my home this weekend...courtesy of my 2 1/2 year old son! He said " I love you" clearly for the very first time yesterday. I cried a was so sweet. He's growing up so fast...he chooses what he wants for a snack from the refrigerator, tells us when he needs a diaper change, and chooses what he wants to play with/read. I love being a mom so much!

In knitting news....I'm still working on my Christmas tree skirt, and am completing roughly one wedge a day. It needs 16 more wedges before its done, so I will definitely step it up in order to finish it in time. We usually don't take our tree down till the day after New Years Day. I cast on and have done some ribbing for my dad's Christmas socks, which used to be Father's Day socks then birthday socks. Those days passed by without the socks being done, but I am determined to finish them in time. I save sock knitting time for the nighttime hours when I, an insomniac by genetics, watch TV by myself. My son's blanket is almost done...just 2 more rows of blocks to knit. I will post more pics later this week!

Hope you have a very pleasant Monday...just remember...Christmas is almost here!!

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas outside here in Ohio

It snowed 2 or so inches on Saturday...the most significant snowfall we have seen so far this season. It was so beautiful....just the right time of the year. My husband and I had a great (early) wedding anniversary. It's actually the 17th of December, but we didn't want to do it so close to Christmas, since we're going to spend it with my parents this year. This past weekend, we left our son with his grandma for a couple days. It was so hard for me, since he's never been away from us overnight. He had a good time, but he missed us and was really hyper at his grandmas. Anyhow, on our weekend, my husband and I went shopping, caught a movie, and had dinner. We also ran some errands, and it was so nice to just be with each other and talk, laugh, etc. A lot of the time life gets in the way, or we are too tired to talk at the end of a busy day, so it was nice to have that time to spend together.

My niece Brianna is going to be born any day now, and I am so excited to meet her! We found the perfect Christmas present for her: a jewelry box, white with pink butterflies on it. It matches her nursery perfectly!

I'm still working on the Christmas tree skirt--it's coming along nicely. Still need to finish the last remaining sock for my dad for Christmas, as well as the blanket I am making for my son. I should have more time to devote to that this week.

Awesome day!!!

I have had an awesome day today!! I found out I have a 75.00 credit on my rent for next month and I went to the used book shop at our library today and got 3 great books for a total of.....1.75!! Saving money, enriching my mind, and being environmentally responsible...all-in-all a great day!!

I started a quick project today, a christmas tree skirt from Creative Knitting magazine. It fulfills an immediate need I have and I would rather have one that I made than one bought in a store (read=cheap). Plus it will use up the tons of Christmas yarn I have from years past!
