New Year, New Knitting

Brief knitterly updates on the latest projects I've completed (and that are still in progress):

Yarn used:  Wonderland Yarns Cheshire Cat in "Brillig"---a brilliant blue

Such a wonderful shawl to knit and one I will definitely be making again.  This particular shawl was a gift for my grandmother, and is currently making its way through Europe.

  • A pair of Barley hats
Yarn used:  Mrs Crosby Steamer Trunk in the ESK exclusive "A Sweet Race" & "Harper"
***"A Sweet Race" is the 2017 ESK yarnathon colorway which is given out when you reach the 10K level in the yarnathon.  The 2018 yarn for the 10K club is different and just as beautiful!  More on the yarnathon later...

I made two Barley hats--one adult, one child sized.  Super fun and easy to knit--thanks TinCanKnits for such a great pattern!  Picture below is of one of the hats--they are identical.

Yarn used:  Squoosh Fiber Arts MCN yarn in the ESK exclusive color "Cherry Cola"--also a 2017 yarnathon color.

I can't say enough about this is squishy, soft and so luxurious.  This hat was a dream to knit and is a dream to wear!

Yarn used:  Madelinetosh Twist Light in Seaglass

I am knitting these for 2 KALs:  VeryBusyMonkey KAL on Ravelry and the 2018 EatSleepKnit yarnathon Q2 KAL--Summer of Socks.  The Eternal Spring pattern is from the summer 2016 edition of Knitty.

I am planning on knitting 3 pairs of socks for the ESK Q2 KAL and since socks are my favorite knitting projects, I am very excited about this challenge.

Pics to come!

Eat.Sleep.Knit 2018 Yarnathon

I love yarn and I have quite a bit of it.  I also am very active on Ravelry and have a plentiful queue.  It is easy to get stuck in a knitting rut and knit things that are in my "comfort zone."  The EatSleepKnit yarnathon is a great way for me to flex my knitting muscles and try new projects that challenge me.  I also love the sense of community and the team spirit.  The team yarnathon is awesome, but the booster club is great too--it is nice to challenge myself in my knitting (and there are badges for spinning & crocheting as well).
